Add providers

Providers are the brands a backend serves, such as Adyen or Onfido. You buy them in the Backend store in the sidebar. It sells them for two kinds of backend, and the switch at the top right picks which one you are buying for:

Hosted: we run the backend for you, and it answers at an address of its own. Your hosted backends are listed under Simulations.
Self-hosted: you pull the backend as an image and run it in your own network. Your self-hosted backends are listed under Self-hosted.

Each kind is bought on its own. A provider you hold for hosted backends does not cover a self-hosted one, and the other way round.

This page covers hosted providers, which is where the store opens. Self-hosted ones have a section of their own.

What a hosted provider covers

You add a provider once, and every hosted backend in your organization can serve it. It belongs to the organization, not to a backend or a person. Which backend serves which brand is a choice you make per backend.

You buy a name, not a version. Holding Adyen covers every Adyen API and every version of it that the current build ships, so a backend pinned to an older build is entitled to what that build served.

Adding a provider does not create anything that answers requests. That is the next step.

Find a provider

Under Providers you get every brand we ship, with a search box and filters for type, region and method. The brands your organization holds are listed first.

The table shows what each brand covers: its type, the regions and countries it is used in, its methods, and how many endpoints it answers. Methods are what the brand works with. For a payment brand they are cards and wallets. For an identity brand they are the checks it runs, such as Document or Watchlist.

Open a row for the detail. It has two tabs:

Overview lists the brand's APIs, the versions under each one, and what every version can do.
Endpoints lists the routes themselves, so you can check that the calls your integration makes are there before you pay for anything.

What you hold

The Status column is filled in for every brand your organization holds:

Trialling: inside the free trial. Nothing is charged for it.
Active: billed on the subscription for its type.
Suspended: your plan no longer covers backends, so billing stopped and the backends came down. Nothing was lost, and upgrading again brings the brands back.

A brand in its free trial also shows Ends and a date, and so does one you have cancelled. It keeps working until that date.

Price shows what you pay for a brand you hold. Included means nothing is charged for it through the store: it is still in its free trial, or we invoice it to you.

Place the order

Select the brands you want. A bar appears at the bottom with the count and the total, and Add providers places the order.

Each type has a subscription of its own, separate from your plan, and it is charged to the card your plan is paid with. Pick Monthly or Yearly above the table before your first order in a type. After that, new brands join the subscription the type already has and are billed at its period. The bar says which one.

An order covers one type. Selecting a brand of another type clears the order and starts a new one with that brand.

Everything renews on the 1st of the month. Before anything is charged, the confirmation says what you pay today:

A type with no subscription yet: today's charge covers the days until the 1st, and the subscription renews on the 1st from then on.
Added to a monthly subscription: nothing is charged today. The invoice on the 1st covers the added days and the next month.
Added to a yearly subscription: today's charge covers the rest of the current year, and each renewal includes the brand.

The confirmation before anything is charged. — Nothing is charged until you confirm.

Only organization owners can add providers. Everyone else sees what the organization holds and can use it.

If your order is larger than checkout can charge at once, the app says so. Contact us and we will invoice it instead.

The free trial

Each type has one free trial per organization. Your first order in that type runs free for the period shown for it under Types. Nothing is charged while it runs. Brands you add during the trial join it and are free until the same date.

When the trial ends, nothing is charged. The brands stop working and are taken off your backends, and the organization's owners get an email. To keep using a brand, order it in the store after that.

Each type's trial is its own. Spending the payments one leaves identity untouched. An order in a type whose trial is already spent is billed from the start.

Cancel a provider

Providers are not cancelled in the Backend store. Open Billing, go to Subscriptions, and use Cancel on the provider's row.

The provider stays until the end of the period you have paid for, and nothing is refunded. Until then it keeps working on your backends, and the store shows the date it ends. After that it is taken off every backend that served it, and those backends are deployed again without it. A backend left with no providers at all is taken offline.

Cancelling the last provider on a subscription ends the subscription. A brand in its free trial has no row there. It ends with the trial, and nothing is charged for it.

Change your mind before the date and order the brand again in the store. It stays, with no extra charge. After the date, adding it again is a new order at whatever it costs then, and the trial for that type is not offered a second time.
