Billing details
Billing details, under Billing, is who we make our invoices out to: the name, address and tax details on every invoice we issue to your organization, such as for a yearly self-hosted order. Only owners can see and change them.
A card payment's invoice comes from Stripe instead. It carries the name and address you set in the payment portal, under Manage payment on the Overview tab.
The fields
- Who are we billing? Choose A company or A private person. It decides how VAT is charged, and what the name field asks for.
- Registered company name: the company's name exactly as the company register reads it. For a private person, the field asks for your Full legal name instead.
- Country: it decides how VAT is charged and how you can pay. The countries a bank transfer reaches us from are listed first, under Bank transfer. From anywhere else you pay by international wire, which takes longer.
- VAT id: companies only. A company in the EU with a valid VAT id is invoiced under reverse charge. A company outside the EU often has none, and leaves it empty.
- Address, Address line 2, Postal code and City: where the company or person is.
- Invoice email: where the invoice goes. Usually accounts payable, not the person who ordered.
- Purchase order: your own reference for the invoice. Some finance teams will not pay an invoice without one.
A private person has no VAT id, and is charged VAT at their own country's rate.
Saving
Change a field and Save details saves it. The button stays grey until something has changed.
While a required field is empty, the tab says how many are left. The required fields are the name, the country, the address, the postal code, the city and the invoice email.
When you need them
A self-hosted order needs complete billing details before it goes through, whether you pay yearly by invoice or monthly by card. The order form asks for the same fields and saves them here, so you fill them in once.
